We booked this Hilton Hotel because we had some vouchers for a Hilton Stay. During our stay, we kept saying "well, at least it is free... well at least it is free..." because we were not at all happy with this hotel. Then, in the end, the Hilton would not even honor the vouchers (we're actually still in dispute about this, and have gone to HIlton Corporate, who issued the vouchers.)
The lobby looked nice, but front desk staff was not terribly friendly when we checked in, which ruined our initial first impression. The heating in our room never worked properly, and the hot water took a very long time to get to our sink. I will say that the bed was very comfortable, the guestroom looked nice - especially the well appointed bathroom.
The location is decent - close enough to Charlotte, with a few restaurants within walking distance. Sonny's BBQ and Chili's near by were surprisingly good!
The last night of our stay, we were treated to a fire alarm at 3am. At first, my reaction was that someone pulled the alarm, and did not blame the hotel. However, I was later told by one of the front desk staff that it was actualy a hotel malfunction. She did not, at that time, offer any kind of a return visit voucher or discount on our stay. At that point, I was still using my "well at least it is free" mantra, so I did not complain.
As I said, I'm still fighting with Hilton over the use of my vouchers - but even when the charge comes off my credit card (as I am confidant it will) I will still be left with a bad taste in my mouth about this hotel. I would not recommend it to anyone.
