“Great location, otherwise just ok.”

I recently stayed at this hotel for two nights while in Charlotte on business. It is at a great location in the center of downtown Charlotte. It was close to the office where I needed to be, and it was close to many good restaurants. Parking was adequate, and easy to get in and out of. The check-in went smoothly, and the common areas were ok, but not impressive. Then came the room. The bathroom smelled bad, and the toilet ran. It just felt a little worn, and not terribly clean. For $219 per night, I expected a little more.

“Good downtown hotel”

Spent one night on business in early April. This is right in the heart of downtown near offices and good restaurants. $25 cab ride from airport. Clean and quiet room with closet, desk, table and chair, alarm clock, phone, and coffee in room. Curb service was good, checkin was hospitable if a bit slow. Checkout was efficient and prompt. Bed was comfortable, shower above average. On-site sports bar and cigar bar were each separate from lobby and quite enjoyable, there are several other nightspots a very short walk away. Starbucks in lobby. Overall nothing extraordinary, but everything well done.
One neat thing about this hotel is a historical marker in the sidewalk outside pointing out that this same location was an inn over 200 years ago and George Washington actually spent a night here. There are other similar markers around town if you have a few minutes to walk around.

This is a good choice for anyone wanting to take advantage of Charlotte restaurants and museums. It is right across the street from the performing arts center and close to many good restaurants. Our room was comfortable but a bit small (we were using points, so small was o.k.) Fitness center and pool were a good size for a downtown hotel. Buffet breakfast was excellent. Staff was responsive. I would stay here again.

I stayed here with my teenage daughter for an athletic event in downtown. We booked this property on Priceline for $75 a night.

Check in was fast, they had no trouble finding a room with two beds. The hotel is blissfully smoke free in all areas. A cigar bar next to the property has a completely separate entrance, so no passive smoke. Our room on the 6th floor was remarkably clean...I checked every surface. Tile in the bathroom seemed freshly grouted, no stains or residue of any kind. We met the housekeeper twice- she was friendly and asked if everything was okay. In fact, that type of service was typical at this hotel at every level. Fine people.

The workout room was very nice- clean, cool and had individual TV monitors on each machine. The water was in a dispenser on a table and was fresh with ice and lemon slices added. The pool wasn't huge..about 20 meters, but was adequate and the adjacent hot tub was a nice perk. There is a small outdoor area to enjoy in good weather. Another thing I liked was that there was never a wait for an elevator. The gift shop in the lobby was attached to a small wine bar, and you could purchase local wines here as well. A little steep, however. There was also a Starbucks in the gift shop.

We had breakfast buffet at the breakfast place, First Light. It was pretty good- they had an omelet and pancake station , eggs, grits, etc and very fresh fruit. One funny thing they offered was small bottles of Coca-Cola on ice. There was an assortment of pastries, cereals and breads and they provided cheese and salsa, which I really like to see.The buffet was 13 dollars adult and my 17 yr old was charged 8 dollars for a kid buffet. I thought that was nice! Service was cheery and attentive.

We rented a movie in the room for $13. Room was a bit small (thus 4 stars) but had a 4 cup coffee pot with ceramic mugs, a small writing table, but no free internet in rooms. There was a small hair dryer, an iron and ironing board. No mini bar or frig. I liked that they had Bath and Body Works amenities in the bathroom.

The hotel was convenient to all downtown...or as they say, Uptown, venues. There are many restaurants close at hand. A cab ride from the airport was flat fee $21.
