“Had a great stay”

Ramada Airport South & Conference Center

May 24, 2008

Older hotel but clean. Could not beat the price. I stayed there due to unexpected travel to Charlotte on business. I would say that there is nothing wrong with this hotel other than it is an older Hotel and needs a fresh look. It was clean and has a good restaurant. They have a huge breakfast buffet. I only ordered room service at night but it was also good. I was given a coupon at check-in for a free drink in the bar. This was a nice gesture after a long day. This was my first stay at this hotel but I will stay there again when I am in town.

“Stay away--Disgusting hotel that's dirty and outdated!”

Scroll down and read the review of this hotel posted under "Bates Motel". I could not agree with their assessment more! My husband and I missed our flight out of Charlotte and were given a list of hotels to call by US Airways. Since it was listed as a Conference Hotel and had a price of $62 with tax, we felt assured that it would be decent enough for a one night's stay. Wrong! As the other reviewer noted, our room was outdated, the pillows were stained, thin and lumpy. The elastic on the fitted sheets was stretched so that it would not stay on the bed. The sheets had holes, the blanket had a cigarette burn (even though it was a non-smoking room). The couch had a huge grease stain and hole it in. The carpeting was disgusting and stained. We slept in our clothes and I had to put a towel over my pillow. Neither of us slept the entire night. The next morning, we were hoping a nice hot shower would revive us. The shower had no water pressure and the drain was clogged. The towels were so thin they were almost transparent. The sound on the television set was distorted as if the speaker was blown.

I cannot find anything good to say about this hotel. Please find a different airport hotel to stay at if you want to get any sleep.

“Wouldn't stay here on purpose but adequate for an airline hotel”

We stayed here on an airline voucher supplied by US Airways. This is a very basic, run-down hotel but is adequate for a quick overnight stay.
The shuttle time was decent, about 10 minutes or so. We rode with a few other couples that were bumped, and it was late at night so we had plenty of room. It seemed far away from the airport but that was probably due to the long day of traveling. Everyone was laughing at the surrounding strip clubs and the super loud party in the hotel bar. We were all pleased to be checked in to the 80's classic 'Da Butt' and our requests for rooms far far away from the lobby bar were accommodated. We were given toothpaste since our luggage was on the way to Chicago, but informed that sadly there were no toothbrushes.
Check in was quick - they had at least 3 people waiting on the group. As we trekked to the room I also had a flashback to 'The Shining' as another reviewer has stated. This is an old, run-down hotel. There were stains everywhere - carpet, bathroom counter, etc. I have such low expectations from today's airlines that I wouldn't expect anything better for their customers. It's probably about 10 years overdue for remodeling but the basics are there - comfortable bed and decent shower. The staff was friendly and did everything they could to help us.
The return shuttle took off right on schedule as promised. We arrived a few minutes early and listened to the staff's recount of the fight that had occurred nearby the night before complete with gunplay.
So it is what you would expect - the cheapest possible place for an airline to put people up for the night.

“If you're looking for a family establishment...keep looking.”

Ramada Airport South & Conference Center

I was in Charlotte for a concert, and I needed to book my fiance and I a room for the night. I am not familiar with Charlotte, so I didn't know what I'd be getting myself into with this motel. We pulled up into the parking lot...and saw that it shared its parking lot with not one...not two...but three--count 'em, three--"adult entertainment venues." They seemed to be all full, and this was on a Tuesday night! Popular places, I guess.

We thought about just driving all the way home, but I figured since I'd already paid for it, we might as well see if we could stay.
The lobby area looked nice enough as we walked in. I noticed that the message board advertised "Monntana" in their hotel lounge on Friday, and "Candy Lips" in their lounge on Saturday. Below that, it said, 'Welcome Church Convention!" I found this amusing. As we were checking in, I saw only three other guests: a man and two women, all stumbling around together towards the elevator.

The room was not nearly as nice as the lobby would have suggested it to be. There interesting white stains on the carpet, and the molding was cracked along the bottom. We had booked a king bed, but the "king bed" consisted of two double beds pushed together with a king mattress on top of it. The mattress sagged on the edges where it didn't quite line up, and the bottom sheet was a queen sheet that they'd tried to ( unsuccessfully) stretch to fit the mattress.

Charlotte is a fairly big city. Unless you're visiting this hotel in order to take advantage of the adult centers and all they may or may not have to offer, I would look elsewhere for lodging.

We stayed at this hotel after missing a connecting flight, so we weren't in the best of spirits. The people at this hotel had an understanding attitude for our predicament, and even let us borrow a phone charger:) The hotel was decent, clean rooms, comfortable beds. But the real impression came from the people working there, who made a potentially bad situation good. Thanks!
