We stayed in Charlotte four nights in order to attend the National Square Dance Convention. The hotel was on the convention hotel list as the Best Western, when we made our reservations and they faxed us the details of our confirmation. We are members of the Gold Crown Club and Priority Club hotels so we would get credit on our account either way. About a month before our arrival, we called the hotel to confirm our reservation and were told that we would be entitled to the same rate quoted by BW, a hot breakfast daily, and shuttle service to the Convention Center or anywhere within 3 miles of the hotel. There were many square dancers staying at the hotel and we kept the shuttle drivers busy. They are to be commended for their courteous, helpful and "go out of the way" attitude. The room was large and well appointed. We didn't discover the room darkening curtain until the next morning, however. The room came with little net bags with sleep inducing things in them: a satin eye cover, ear plugs, lavender spray to make the pillows smell nice and a CD to play in the radio/CD player by the bed, to help put you to sleep. We didn't need them after we discovered the shade. There was a little noise from the street, but not much. The breakfast was biscuits and sausage gravy in addition to eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, bread, sweet rolls, cereal, fruit, juice, milk, coffee and tea. It was enought to keep us going all day. It was served in the dining room with cloth napkins and an attentive, smiling staff to help when needed. One night they had a "special" in the bar that included a free appetizer when you bought a bottle of wine. We had five big shrimp in the shrimp cocktail and enough wine for two nights. We had a great time in Charlotte and were treated very well at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Stayed at this hotel recently on a business trip to Charlotte. Cannot understand how anyone could be negative about this hotel. I have been in the hotel business for 30 years and this hotel has exceptional service. I had several excellent meals at the hotel. The roast beef was awesome and their breakfast and lunch buffets provide an exceptional selection at in todays day and age unbelieveable low prices. The room was great with one of those new pillow top mattresses, lots of thick towels and way too many pillows. I would have no problem recommending this hotel.

This hotel is AWESOME! I travel all over the country and the level of service and friendliness at this particular hotel was incredible. Things could have not ran any smoother.... From checking-in with front desk which was superb - to room service, the food is great in the restuarant and service was great! I have stayed at all the major players in the downtown area and the Crowne Plaze is the BEST!!!!!!! I will continue to always stay here from now on and refer everyone to this hotel coming in to Charlotte!

I won this hotel on a $70 bid with priceline. I immediately came here and then was a bit afraid of what I was going to get. I was pleasantly surprised. Many reviews here are from the best western period or the renovation period. The hotel is much better now. The hotel is very pretty and I have very few complaints.

The first is the parking is no longer included, and it's $15/day. A bit steep in my opinion but it's always like that with downtown hotels. Speaking of downtown, if you really don't need to be close to downtown then I would skip it for a comfort inn or something similar outside of downtown. The location isn't in the middle of downtown, it's on the southern edge and there isn't much within a short walking distance.

The free breakfast buffet is no longer included either. We bought yogurts and bananas for breakfast.

The room was beautiful. Internet access was free and great. The staff was extremely friendly, almost to the point of being annoying (ok I'm exaggerating). This was the most friendly staff I've ever seen. Everyone greeted us. The parking is very accessible and safe. Easy to bring our bags in from the parking. Our room was on the street level and it was quiet for us (4th floor), we didn't hear the traffic. The hotel is very close to the freeway which makes it easy to get to the hotel.

Overall we had a great stay. If I couldn't get it with priceline I wouldn't pay full price, I'd go for a comfort inn nearby. Unless you need to be close to downtown.
