I stayed here in April 2007. The room that I stayed in was nice modern, and clean. The rooms do not have refrigerators. If the rooms would have refrigerators, then they would be even better. Like most courtyards there is a (not complimentary) breakfast buffet in the morning. The breakfast buffet was nothing special. OK if you wanted to grab something quick and go, but otherwise you would be better off going up the street to Bob Evans for breakfast.

The location of this hotel is fairly good. There are several chain places to eat within about a mile of this hotel including Cheddars , Logans Steakhouse, Smokey Bones, TGI Fridays, Starbucks, Bruggers Bagels, Bob Evans, and some fast food (Burger King). There is a Walgreens about block from this hotel. The hotel is about two blocks away from the interstate.

If I was the one assigning rating to the hotel, I would rate it three diamonds.

The only negative was that the hot tub was broken for my entire visit. (I didn’t ask when it was going to be fixed.) The regular pool (outdoor) was closed as well. The exercise room looked pretty nice, although I didn’t personally check out the equipment first hand.

“Disliked this older Hotel”

I just got back from visiting the Charlotte area for work and was very disappointed with this hotel. After check-in, I found my room and the first thing I noticed was that the room felt damp. I turned up the air conditioning to eliminate the dampness. Next, I noticed hair on the shower wall, tub, and floor. I immediately called the front desk and a cleaning attendant was at my door in the next half hour. She took one of the washcloths and wiped off the hair on the wall, tub, and floor and left. I was unable to switch to another room because the hotel was booked.
This hotel is obviously old because the air conditioning unit does not work well and the carpeting is very faded and old.
The next day I was about to make coffee in the room and noticed that the coffee pot had dried coffee on the bottom of it. Additionally, the dampness in the room did not subside. Everything in the room was damp including the bed, floor, and my clothes that hung in the closet. That evening while watching the television, I noticed that one of the seals from the water bottles offered in the room for a cost was unsealed. I called the front desk to notify (since I did not want to be charged for it) and it was not replaced during my 3 day stay.
Needless to say, I would not stay at this location again.

This was a reasonably nice Courtyard. The rooms were clean and quiet. The hotel is located near a Walmart with lots of other shopping. I would stay here again.

“Nice overnight at the Courtyard”

Courtyard by Marriott Charlotte University Research Park

I spent one night at the Courtyard in May, 2004, and was pleased with the hotel. The room was clean and spacious, quiet, and efficient. The breakfast in the morning was very nice, and everyone in the hotel was friendly.

The first room I was given had no phone service or internet service. The front desk handled the problem appropriately and quickly, with a smile. Overall a good job and a good value.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights while attending a church conference at Mecklenburg Community Church in February 2004. We had a problem with our keys one night, but that was quickly resolved. The traffic in the area is quite bad during rush hour, but I suppose that's to be expected for a major city. There are a number of quality restaurants nearby, so we ate very well. I spent a lot of time in the hot tub, and there was never anyone else in the area. My colleagues (obviously more disciplined than I am) enjoyed the gym equipment, as well. Overall, it was a nice stay, and I would recommend the hotel to anyone visiting the area.
