Usually I prefer Marriott hotels, but since I was in Charlotte for a wedding and the bride had arranged a good price of $79/night, I said we would stay there. First, overnight self parking was reasonable at $8/night. The lobby is nice and so were the front desk personnel. They paid attention to detail and when my room wasn't ready as the express checkin had indicated, I was moved to vacant room immediately. The front desk personnel also paid attention to the customers. When I arrived in my room, I thought it was smallish, but since is an older property, that was to be expected. The room was very clean, but it had a stale smoky smell which I didn't like, but I became use to it. It was supposed to have been a non smoking room, but I think at one time it was a smoking room. The furnishings were nice. The bed was nice with the white duvet cover. I ordered lunch from room service as I wanted to relax before the wedding. I have to say it was the best club sandwich I have had in a hotel. They were prompt, and the food was hot. Great fries! The bathroom was small, but was nice with a granite vanity. By the way, good water pressure and hot water! The towels were the best towels. Big, bright white and soft. When we returned from the wedding we prepared for bed. For me the bed was hard. For sure it wasn't a Marriott bed, but I was able to get a good night's sleep. The next morning I ordered room service for breakfast. The food was excellent. My omelet was huge and delicious, my grits were smooth, and everything else was good. This hotel has the best hotel food I have ever eaten. Check out was as smooth as check in. All in all the location of this hotel is good. The property itself was fine. The customer service personnel (even the room service attendant and delivery people) tried very hard and were quite pleasant. I would definitely stay here again even though the Marriott is right up the street. If I get a better price at the Omni, I will stay there.
