We stayed in the Residence Inn after a long car ride from Ohio, en route to the beach in South Carolina. My husband and I are big fans of Residence Inn because the quality is usually pretty good and there's lots of room for us and my two small kids (3 and 5). We generally get a two bedroom suite and make use of the fridge for milk and other cooler stuff. Our check-in was easy and took maybe two minutes. Our room was typical of a Residence Inn--NOT going to be featured on HGTV for impressive design--but functional and comfortable. In general the room was clean. One of the two bathrooms, not so much. Lots of hair, some seemingly of the pet variety, and some...well...let's just say there was hair. The shower head had been fixed one too many times and leaked regardless of how it was positioned. The tile was pretty beat up and grout kind of gone--you teetered a little on some of the floor tiles. The other bathroom, on the other hand, was just fine, and the rest of the suite, including kitchen, was fine. Breakfast was the usual Residence Inn fare, quite generous, combination of hot and cold stuff. The dining room however, was far too small for the hotel. It was PACKED. Lines were long. There weren't nearly enough tables. The poor staff lady working the room was doing a good job trying to keep up but she was sinking in the quicksand of hungry free breakfasters. All in all our stay was fine, and after I did my online survey, noting the dirty bathroom, I got an email from the head of engineering assuring me that if I contact him when I come back we wouldn't have those problems again. Honestly, not big deals although I do like a hair-free bathroom.
