We are going out of Charlotte in Dec. and want to leave our car at the hotel for a week where we will have spent the previous night. Will also need hotel shuttle on departure & arrival back. Any suggestions for a reasonably priced, safe choice?

Some of the other Charlotte residents know more about the airport hotels than I do, but I would look at the Embassy Suites Hotel Charlotte

My uncle always uses Springhill Suites and has been pleased. But, he has never left a car - just used the shuttle. Comfort Suites allows a bus tour company to permit its patrons to park in their lot for extended time. Not sure if they have an airport shuttle - you can check. I'll be honest with you - I would not leave my car parked in ANY hotel lot for a week around the airport. You are better off parking in the fenced airport lots...and then some occasional vandalism occurs. But, it's safer than the open hotel lots. Best wishes.

Nativetarhell,

I too would like to know of a good hotel near the airport. We have done this in Atlanta. Stayed at the hotel the night before, left our car for a week then picked it up and left upon arrival back in Atlanta. We did not have any problems.

I have found plenty of hotels close to the airport but can't really tell (other than calling them) if they allow extended parking.

Any other advice for nativetarheel and myself is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hey poodlefan7,

Tarhell, Tarheel, what's the difference? Hey, if that's the worst thing I ever get called I'll be doin' alright!

We have decided to stay @ the Holiday Inn Airport Charlotte, it seems nice enough (heck, we're only gonna be there overnight) My sister-in-law lives nearby and she went to scope out the hotels a few weeks ago and I believe she said Holiday Inn has a fenced lot. They also said the shuttle runs

24 hrs, which will be good because we have a 6 AM flight.

Hey, thanks for the post- I'll try to post more info on the hotels after our trip.

Definately stay at the Renaissance. It is a nice hotel (suite), they have a nice bar and restaurant. You may leave your car (many hotels near airport will not allow this) and they have a shuttle. We live in Charlotte and stay here when we have an early am flight.

Thanks for the heads up-we have already reserved @ Holiday. Any suggestions for a good meal in the area of the airport? Nothing fancy but not really a big chain restaurant, maybe a local fave. Thanks!

There's really nothing around the Holiday Inn - not a great area to be out and about. Now- just across I-85 is Miguel's. It's a hole-in-wall Mexican place that's not half bad. It's an old building but pretty clean. I've had some good food in there!

And then just down Little Rock Rd on the left is Showmar's - a great local place for fast food - burgers, sandwiches, and Greek specialties. Be careful around that area at night.

If you want a good steak - go back out to Wilkinson Blvd and turn left - less than a mile on the left is Ranch House Steak house- a 1950s style steak house. It's an institution! Try the house made shrimp cocktail. It will knock the top of your head off! LOL.

Best wishes.

Little Rock Deli, just north of I-85 ramp on Little Rock Rd, is a great little family owned sandwich shop. Good pie, and best cheesesteaks in town. Just use caution in the area a night.
