I want to visit charlotte in the summer before moving there. What is there to do what are a good neighborhood for a new college graduate. I love the city and country combination.

I thought I'd right you back since I moved here from Maryland and DC was my home city. Charlotte is different from DC in that there aren't anywhere close to the distinct neighborhoods in DC like you are used to, no Georgetown, no Adams Morgan, etc. There also is so little history here, unlike the gobbles of history you are used to outside your door. No Metro, but they did just build a light rail on the south side of town.

You might like South End, NoDa or Plaza Midwood to check out when you are down here, that is where a lot of younger single people live. The downtown here is called "uptown" and is where a lot of the bars/clubs are. We live near Ballantyne, which is kind of like the Potomac of North Carolina, but it also has some affordable areas (not like the Potomac of MD :)). There are restaurants and bars, but is more suburban.

There are a ton of outdoor activities here, if you like hiking, biking, etc, you won't get bored. If you need any specific info, feel free to send me an e-mail, always want to let people know what they are getting into :)
