Embassy Suites, Concord - newly opened - is located on Bruton Smith Blvd (formerly Speedway Blvd) and is only a mile or so from the track. Also near Concord Mills and I85.

There is every mid-price chain imaginable in the Concord Mills area ( just down from the track). I would bet they are already full but you could check. Yes, the Embassy Suites is the top of the line there. I suggest you use expedia.com to search. You can display all the hotels on a map and see how close they are. Avoid the University area if you can. When you decide on a location, come back here and post to get an opinion before booking. Best wishes.

If you can get a hotel on or around Speedway Blvd in Concord, do it. They are all relatively new and close to everything, though it will be a madhouse. Traffic will be bad in University as well, but was not aware that crime was an issue in that area. Huntersville/Lake Norman is a good area, and plenty of choices. 20-25 miles away, but traffic could be challenging.
